About Us

Founded in 1997, Bruce Mast & Associates, Inc. is a human resource firm that focuses on Leadership and Organizational Development.

We are dedicated to working with individuals and organizations to help them meet the challenges they face in today’s organizational realities.

BMA's extensive client base includes local, regional, national and international clients in the fields of manufacturing, distribution, healthcare, education, high tech, utilities, government and finance as well as several non-profit agencies. Our partners also work extensively with individual Executive Coaching and Career Coaching clients in all of these and other related fields.

We currently have five members in our firm, three of whom are practitioners working directly with client organizations. Additionally, we maintain trusted relationships with a highly accomplished adjunct staff of professionals whose services we engage for larger projects.


Bruce Mast, President

Bruce Mast, President and Founder, brings expertise in Leadership and Organizational Development, Executive Coaching, Strategic Search and Staffing issues to the design and implementation of creative approaches and effective solutions to challenges facing employers and employees in today’s organizational realities. Much of BMA’s work for clients is based on proprietary intellectual property unique to the industry.

As the creator and architect of BMA’s innovative, leadership development processes, Bruce focuses on developing effective learning that has had a profound impact on both individuals and organizations throughout the northeast. He is a sought-after speaker addressing business and professional groups and organizations throughout the country.

Bruce holds a Master’s Degree in Peace Studies (Applied Ethics) from the Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminaries, a BA in Social Science, summa cum laude, from Bethel College, and has done Advanced Academic Studies in Counseling. He is the immediate past President of the Board of Seacoast Hospice, and in 2004, received the United Way’s Douglas Eldridge Memorial Award honoring an outstanding board or staff member in recognition of his service to Hospice.

In addition to his responsibilities at BMA, Bruce is adjunct faculty at New England College teaching Organizational Management and Leadership for their Master’s program as well as serving as a student thesis advisor. He is also on the Board of Advisors of Strawbery Banke Museum and on the Board of the NH Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.


John Ford, Vice President

John joined BMA with over 25 years of OD experience developing and delivering effective education and training solutions in, and for, many companies.  John has created customized programs in the areas of leadership, mentoring, team-building, project management, business development, strategic business planning, strategic marketing planning, quality control, and interpersonal skills.  He has also created a variety of successful vendor and academic joint ventures, most recently with the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Besides bringing his experience to BMA, John is an adjunct faculty member of Granite State College, teaching business programs including: Principles of Management, Organizational Behavior, Leadership, Scenario Planning, and Knowledge Management Systems and Principles.  He has served in several leadership roles focusing on education as a past member of the National Oversight Board of Advisors for Project Lead the Way; served 2 years as a member of the Industrial Board of Advisors for Boston University’s College of Engineering and Rochester Institute of Technology’s Center for Applied Science and Technology.  John was also an active member of the US Board of Education’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Board of Advisors.


Leslie Mast, VP Operations/Marketing

Leslie is a founding partner of Bruce Mast & Associates, Inc. (BMA) and serves as VP Operations/Marketing.  With over 30 years of experience in senior level positions in marketing, public relations, advertising, promotion management, sales and property management, she is responsible for the development of the BMA White Papers, BMA’s newsletter - A View From The Masthead, the website, all collateral materials as well as coordinating and helping to develop BMA’s intellectual property, including Leadership On The Line® and Stepping Up To Leadership®.  Additionally, she has written and co-authored several articles for HR and business publications as well as edited a cookbook.   Leslie also coordinates BMA’s strategic search processes.

An alumna of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, Leslie did supplementary master’s level course work in Advertising and Promotions Management at Indiana University. She is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of Strawbery Banke Museum.


John F. Slack, Senior Associate

John Slack has over 25 years experience in creating and facilitating customized programs in the areas of project management and business analysis.  He works with organizational leaders to help identify the gaps between the organization’s current capabilities and its required capabilities; he helps them recognize change opportunities, select and sequence those to be pursued, and execute that pursuit successfully.   At BMA, John is currently working with clients in the areas of project management and business analysis.  He is also a Leadership Coach for Stepping Up To Leadership®.

Over the years, John has developed solutions ranging from software products for the marketplace, measurement systems for customer service organizations, and project management practices with large IT organizations.  He has developed and applied methods and techniques to analyze organizations, identifying opportunities for change and creating the necessary projects to give each new capability to address the rapid changes coming from a dynamic environment.  Some organizations with which John has worked include Walmart, Ampex, Digital Equipment Corporation, Microsoft, the Social Security Administration, and the Internal Revenue Service.

John has been a speaker at local, national, and international venues for organizations such as the Project Management Institute (PMI) and the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) and is an instructor in project management at Boston University.  He holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Northeastern University in Boston, MA and also holds a certification from PMI as a Project Management Professional (PMP).
